May 15th marks the start of the Onegin National Opera Awards submission period for the season of 2020

Onegin was founded in 2016 with a goal of popularizing the art of Russian opera. The Award brings together the majority of the country's opera theatres, and gives an opportunity to the opera fans and professionals to enjoy the very best opera singers and musicians from all across Russia.

The V Annual Onegin National Opera Award Ceremony will take place November 2020 on the stage of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg as a part of the IX St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. The Awards anniversary program will also feature a unique gala concert aiming to introduce the audience to the Onegin nominees of this year and award winners from past years.

This year for the first time ever Onegin will feature a new award category: “Best Online Project”. The award will be presented to the performer, theatre or a creative team for their online activity during the quarantine period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The contenders will be judged on the originality of the idea, social reach and audience involvement.
